I am Harts, I’m a solo artist, I write my music and play all the instruments in my bedroom.
I want to create a sound that covers all the bases of the music that has influenced me. A sound that incorporates and makes new all the music I love and cherish that just isn’t around these days. From 60s rock to 70s funk through Disco, then into 80s glam and pop through to 90s grunge, on through to late 90s/early 00s dance, finally shot through with early 2000s indie rock and alternative electro dance, each song is crafted through a broad channel of music, finally landing me at a brand new and unique sound that I hope people will love as much as I love.
The music is indie rock. But it is also electro dance. And funk. It’s an indie creation. With shredding guitar solos, over synth pads and pounding electro drums, topped with surreal melodies and edgy vocals, the blend of musicianship, style and experimentation has really transcended anything that I could hope to map out on a piece of paper of musical influences. The music is its own thing.
For live shows, I take a different approach instrumentally. I have 2 keyboard players and a drummer alongside me. That’s it. It truly does create a unique live experience, while keeping all the sheer raw energy of a rock show.
My 5-track EP, Offtime, is set for release in early 2012. It was mixed by Lars Stalfors of The Mars Volta. He heard my demos and loved the songs so much he offered to help bring a better and stronger mix to them. He really did help me achieve the sound I sought after. “That sound!”
The track, “Back to the Shore” is already making its way around the blogs. Check it out and share it around.
